Ukishima Wetlands

Ukishima Wetlands is a high-altitude wetland located about a 40‑minute drive from Takinoue Town toward the Kamikawa area. Here, you can see alpine plants along with various wildflowers, wild birds, rare insects, and sometimes small animals like squirrels.
Ukishima Wetlands is reached by ascending a hiking trail of approximately 1,600 meters from the parking lot. Although it is called a hiking trail, stairs and other facilities have been installed, so it is more of a gentle hike than a strenuous climb. The wetland features a wooden boardwalk that allows for a safe visit.
Along the hiking route, you will also receive seasonal nature commentary.

Access to Ukishima Wetlands
From Takinoue, take National Route 273 toward the Kamikawa area for about 40 minutes, or approximately 5 minutes from Ukishima IC on the Asahikawa-Monbetsu Expressway. From the national highway, enter the Ukishima Wetlands entrance, then proceed on a gravel road for about 10 minutes to reach the parking lot.
Guided Tour Details
We offer a guided tour lasting approximately 3 hours, available in either the morning or afternoon (flexible timing).
The morning session is from 8:30 to 11:30, and the afternoon session is from 12:30 to 15:30. Meeting and dismissal take place at the Ukishima Wetlands parking lot.
During the hike, we provide nature commentary tailored to your preferences. For a better experience and to ensure safety, each tour is limited to around 6 participants. If you require a tour for more than 6 people, please contact us separately. Time adjustments are also available.
Guid Schedule
午前中出発の場合
8:30 – Gather at the Ukishima Wetlands parking lot for a pre-departure briefing.
8:45 – Depart.
9:30 – Arrive at Ukishima Wetlands.
10:00 – Free exploration (guided assistance available upon request).
10:40 – Depart from Ukishima Wetlands; begin descent.
11:30 – Return to the parking lot; tour concludes.

※Child rates are only applicable when accompanied by an adult guardian.
Clothing
- Please wear clothing that covers your skin to protect against sunburn and insects.
- For footwear, waterproof shoes are recommended as the ground may be muddy. Although the hiking trail is not too challenging, boots are also acceptable.
- Please wear a hat.

- We cannot be held responsible for any accidents, injuries, or damage to personal belongings during the guided tour.
- Please ensure that children are adequately supervised by their guardians.The tour area is within a brown bear habitat.
- While our guides will exercise extreme caution, please do not stray too far from the guide in case of an emergency.
